Bogota -
Colombia. Perhaps the most politically potent country in the western hemisphere: a popular tourist destination. A haven for drugs and crime. A country with a massive rebel problem that dwarves every other country in the Americas combined.

No one gives a straight answer about Colombia - is it safe? Why yes, it is. But no it isn't. Well, maybe it is. One thing is for certain - it's at least one of these answers.
I don't want to get kidnapped, robbed or otherwise waylaid - who does. But I do, desperately, want to know more about this country called Colombia. I don't like being lied to. I want to find out the truth, and get a glimpse of this country. I have many questions about it; hopefully this trip to its capital will reveal but a few answers. Colombia's reputation is aloof at best. Let's find out a little about why.
I guess an easy way to figure out Bogota's tourist appeal is the 'gringo count' on the plane: there seems to be one other younger guy on the plane that doesn't look Latin American, but he may be Colombian. If they're a lighter shade of skin in Colombia, then it should be easier.
Aside from that, there are about five other obvious Gringos, all middle aged men: meaning they're either in oil, mining, or hostage negotiation.
I can feel the heat bleeding into the plane already. I am getting very intrigued.
